Today’s short art feature is about Ayqa Khan’s equally adorable and eye-catching textile series. In her words:

I wanted to create something I don’t see often: A twist on culture in a fun and playful way. The following series are a series of illustrations I will continue to create that revolve around color, patterns, and most importantly, the signature subjects within our cultures.

It is important for me to view things playfully, especially on virtual platforms where everything has become so subjective. I want to create things that are visually pleasing.

From halal junk food to niqabs, Khan pulls from art from the every day parts of her culture, mixing in bright colors and thoughtful repetition.
