Brought to you by mausam and middle fingers.

This playlist doesn’t have a trough. It just gets more turnt as you go along. It starts with a couple songs about mausam and ends with one about sticking your middle finger in the air.

Spring is here and we don’t have to relegate our crusades to the indoors anymore. Know what I’m saying? It’s time to celebrate all the two-day, two-week, and two-year flings out there. All the ones you’ve ever had. And the ones coming.

Ze Rebelle knows. She gives you a list of the kind of boys she likes. Navy guys with “lotsa money.” Me too, me too. And Luciana has something to say about your “pocket rocket — ” I like that.

Before we get there, though, there are some breathy tracks to prime you. “What’s It Gonna Be” by Busta Rhymes and Janet Jackson is later followed by the raciest track on the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack, “Ringa Ringa.”

Still too hot? Let’s take some steps back. Guru’s got you. He says: Cool, you can talk to me, don’t need to shy away. Lets break the ice and make it right, don’t even got to wait. Even before then, Malkit Singh sings about how sweet it can be to sit next to someone you fancy in “Jind Mahi.”

And to begin, JoSH and Mohammed Rafi frame our track list with moods and settings like rangeela and beimann. Sounds like spring.

Last week, in a high-rise café, I watched the sun set through a long stretch of state-of-the-art windows and saw spring coming. The café was closing — the music turned up more than a few notches and suddenly I watched everyone glide past each other like orcas forming a pod. The servers cleared pizza trays and packed pastries. The guests moved their necks a little easier as they talked and listened. It was like watching symphony orchestra poise their instruments and start playing, heads and bodies bobbing.

The song was MISSIO’s “Middle Fingers.”
